Taking care of your scalp is essential to your hair feeling and looking its best, from beginning to ends! Oatmeal is well known for treating skin disorders such as eczema and dryness. It is also rich in B vitamins and Beta-glucan, which softens and protects your hair follicles. If you suffer from dandruff, a sore scalp from over processing, or scalp inflammation, oatmeal will help soothe, condition and protect. Here's a simple recipe...
SOOTHING OATMEAL HAIR MASK
1 cup of oatmeal
1/4-1/2 cup of warm water
1 TBSP of extra virgin olive oil
Take 1 cup of oatmeal. (Quick cooking is fine, but I highly suggest less processed and organic.) In your food processor, pulse the oatmeal until it is a powder. This way, you don't have a big mess in your sink or bathtub, and you don't have oats stuck in your hair! You may also try Aveeno Oatmeal Bath packets for a quick start!
Add about 1/4-1/2 cup of warm water, and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, which will aid in nourishing your hair and soothing your irritated scalp.
Lather mask on to the top of your head, and massage into your scalp. Double the recipe if needed for super thick or and long hair.
Rinse with warm water and cleanse with Sulfate Free Shampoo.
I suggest leaving in this mask for around 10 minutes to get the full effects. This treatment is safe to do on a weekly basis.
Your hair will be silky soft, not oily, and not caked on with oatmeal. Your scalp will be soothed from irritants.
Enjoy ;)
Wow! Can't wait to try this out! My scalp is thanking you right now! It would be refreshing to get my scalp and hair out of the winter shed! I would love to try this with the kids! What could I use to moisturize it after rinsing?
